Mehrān Shahābeddin was born in 1949 in Shahmirzad, Mazandaran, and completed his education in Tehran. In 1967, Mehrān entered the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tehran.
Before the revolution, he was sentenced to ten years in prison due to his political activities. He was released along with other prisoners during the uprising in 1979. He was a member of the central committee and political bureau of the organisation "Rah-e Kargar." Mehrān, along with his spouse Parvin Goli Abkenari and four other family members, was arrested in late July 1982. He endured severe torture for several months, and due to pre-existing physical ailments, one of his hands became paralysed under torture. After nineteen months of torture and captivity, he was executed by firing squad alongside his comrade Nouraldin Riyahi. His body was buried in a special section of Khavaran Cemetery, alongside his spouse and his spouse's brother.
مهران شهاب الدین در سال ۱۳۲۸ در شهمیرزاد مازندران متولد شد، و در تهران تحصیل کرد. مهران در سال ۱۳۴۶ وارد دانشکده پزشکی دانشگاه تهران شد.
او پیش از انقلاب، به دلیل فعالیت های سیاسی خود به ۱۰ سال زندان محکوم شد. با قیام سال ۱۳۵۷ همراه با دیگر زندانیان آزاد شد. وی عضو کمیته مرکزی و هیئت سیاسی سازمان «راه کارگر» بود. مهران به همراه همسرش (پروین گلی آبکناری) و ۴ نفر دیگر از اعضای خانواده اش در اواخر تیرماه ۱۳۶۱ ، بازداشت شد. ماه های متمادی در زیر شدیدترین شکنجه ها قرار گرفت، و او که از کودکی از ناراحتی های جسمی رنج می برد،در زیر شکنجه، یک دستش فلج شد. و پس از نوزده ماه شکنجه و اسارت، به همراه رفیق همسنگرش نورالدین ریاحی تیرباران شدند. پیکر او در قطعه ای ویژه در گورستان خاوران، در کنار همسر و برادرِ همسرش به خاک سپرده شده است.
